School Routes/Litter Abatement/Special Events/Storm Debris Management

School Routes:

All schools' participation in our recycling program is collected on a monthly basis. Materials collected are applied to the appropriate school account. Accounts are paid on a quarterly basis. Schools with large amounts of certain materials may be granted a larger container for storage.

Litter Abatement:

Solid Waste in conjuction with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff Department provides three litter abatement crews. One crew is assigned strictly to the twelve municipalities on a rotation basis, one to state roads, and one to parish abatement.

Special Events:

Solid Waste supplies waste containers for government agencies, schools, and non-profit organizations that are holding fundraisers or beautification and clean-up projects.

A request for a container has to be made through and approved by our Inspector. The Inspector can be reached at 337-308-1684.

Storm Debris Management:

A parish debris management plan is in place which includes St. Landry Parish Solid Waste and St. Landry Parish Government.

Following hurricanes or damaging storms, the Solid Waste District has been appointed as debris manager to oversee debris clearance and removal operations in conjunction with St. Landry Parish Public Works.
